Antique Glass Furniture Stem Casters

Ultra-rare set of 4 LARGE furniture casters with luscious, extra-thick clear glass wheels. Original swivel sleeves (extremely rare; it usually takes me years of searching to find). Faultless Caster Company of Nebraska City, Nebraska, dated November 8th, 1892.

• Will raise your piece 3”
• 2 1/2" diameter, 1 1/8" wide wheels
• 2 1/4" long, 9/16" wide sleeves

Great condition. Forks do show finish wear; sleeves show oxidation.

Still in their original 1930’s cardstock package, here’s a set of 4 swivel furniture casters. Small mounting plate to fit narrow furniture legs. Steel forks with antique bronze finish. Near pristine condition- excellent cosmetic and operational condition, but does show a small chipped area on the wheel hub (see highlighted area in close-up); I guarantee this will never be an issue unless being used for extremely heavy duty utilitarian use. Scoured with power wire brushes to remove all rust, hand washed, moving parts lubricated. Ready for installation.

Small circular mounting plate and thick stem make these ideal for secure mounting to slim table legs. Engineered to swivel via two small metal wheels built into the wheel assembly which roll against the circular mounting plate- a marvel of early American Industrial Age engineering. Made by M. B. Schenck & Company of Meriden, CT; marked with patent dates of 1877 to 1881.

• 1 5/8 inch diameter mounting plates with 1 3/16 inch long, 1/2 inch diameter stems
• Includes new wood mounting screws

• Tapered opening measures 1 3/8 inch inside diameter at the top; 2 3/4 inches deep.

Good condition. Scoured with power wire wheels to remove loose rust, then washed. No chips/cracks to cast iron. Glass spheres do show wear.

These are small, light duty casters I recommend only for a fairly lightweight piece (100-150 lbs?) that would not see heavy use.

Set of four 1800s' industrial casters. Cast iron construction with original black painted finish. These are ‘rigid’ or ‘fixed’ casters, meaning they roll from side to side, but do not swivel. Exceptionally rare…have never seen this design in the decades I’ve been specializing in antique industrial casters. Love the 1800s’ raised numeral on the wheels and mounting plates.
