1800’s Antique Industrial Cast Iron Gear Sculptures

1800’s Antique Industrial Cast Iron Gear Sculpture
Very excited about the recent acquisition of several antique industrial gears, each engraved with the number of cogs on its wide face. Thick cast iron with gently swirling spokes and luscious patinas!

From the Montgomery Worsted Mills, an old textile mill on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places along the Wallkill River at the end of Factory Street in the village of Montgomery, New York. Some still have their thick layer of factory grime embedded with wool fibers, validating its provenance from the mill! A great piece of American history!

1800’s American Industrial Iron Gear Sculpture
Very excited about the recent acquisition of this antique industrial numbered gear. From the 1800s, its made of cast iron in a very dynamic dimensional design of circular holes, curving flanges and embossed letters and numerals. Has an amazing patina as would occur over a century, confirming its role in American history.

To show off its form, I’ve handcrafted a primitive stand from reclaimed old lumber, allowing the gear to be removed for handheld admiration.

1800’s American Industrial Gear Sculpture

Antique Cast Iron Industrial Gear
Antique Cast Iron Industrial Gear
Very excited about the recent acquisition of these antique industrial numbered gears. From the 1800s, they’re made of thick cast iron with curving spokes and a wide face of triangular teeth. Their original black painted finish has over a century-old patina with a thick layer of dirt and oils as would accumulate over the decades, confirming their role in American history.

To show off their form, I’ve handcrafted primitive stands from reclaimed old lumber, allowing the gear to be removed for handheld admiration and placement at whatever angle you desire.
