Antique Wood Furniture Casters

Set of four Victorian swivel casters in rare, double wheel design. Small circular mounting plate and thick stem are ideal for slim table legs; includes new wood mounting screws. Cast iron with wood wheels to be kind to your flooring. Model No. 5 by Payson Manufacturing Company of Chicago, dated 1877.

• Will raise your piece 2 7/8 inches
• 1 3/4 inch diameter wheels in a 2 5/8 inch wide assembly
• 2 inch diameter mounting plates with 1 1/2 inch long, 3/8 inch thick stems

Great operational and structural condition. Cleaned- soaked in degreaser, then scrubbed with abrasive pad and wire brush to remove the heaviest of dirt and grime, leaving aged patina. Remnants of original coppertone finish. Please note one caster has a broken screw top (see close-up); this screw needs to be removed to attach mounting plate to furniture. There’s still just enough metal there to turn it, but will require slight additional care to do so.

These are a rare, large wooden wheel model. Wood is obviously more fragile than their cast iron counterpart, so few made it through the past 150 years. If this model will fit your piece, and you need wooden wheels to not damage flooring, grab these quickly. I come across such a model only once every several years.
